VERA NEUMANN VEGETABLE PRINT NAPKINS - LADYBUG SIGNATURE EARLY DESIGN - SET OF 5

$ 58.00

This is a lovely set of five preowned vegetable napkins designed by Vera Neumann from her earlier ladybug period. The artwork is soft and painterly with gentle greens and warm oranges on a cream background. Pea vines with hanging pods and blossoms flow across the fabric along with a bunch of asparagus tied with a light orange and fine black twisted string.  Also, a single carrot with its tall second year seed stalk rising beside it. The edges are finished with soft green stitching and the fabric feels like a smooth lightweight linen or cotton although the exact fiber content is unknown. The Vera signature with the copyright symbol and the early ladybug mark appears in the lower left corner.

Three of the napkins show light yellowish staining when held up to strong daylight and viewed from the back side. On the front, the marks are faint and mostly noticeable only when examined closely. The remaining two napkins show lighter age signs with only soft faint spots that are harder to see from the front. When the set is laid out normally, the age marks do not stand out and would likely go unnoticed unless someone was inspecting them carefully. They still present beautifully as an uncommon early vegetable print that I did not see anywhere in 6 pages of Etsy listings.

Each napkin measures approximately 15-3/4" by 16".

A charming addition to any midcentury kitchen, retro table or Vera collection.
