VINTAGE VERY FANCY MATEJ FOR ODETTE BARSA BLUE & NUDE LACE PEIGNOIR & NIGHTGOWN SET

A fabulous vintage all lace peignoir & nightgown set by Odette Barsa in blue with nude lace - if you love lace like I do, you will love this peignoir & nightgown in vintage lace

The lace peignoir has a silky smooth nylon lining of blue for a gorgeous contrast - wide blue satin ribbon is woven through more nude lace & ribbon which travels down the front - a blue satin tie adorns the neck area with snaps for closure - there is a double ruffle peter pan collar on the peignoir - more satin ribbon & lace trim on the sleeves to make it extra feminine

These Odette Barsa lace sets were once sold at the old I. Magnin stores and other high‑end boutiques that carried the most luxurious lingerie. After graduating high school, I moved with my family from a small farming community of about 500 people to Los Angeles — the city of angels. My parents were originally from Chicago, so even though I grew up in that quiet little town, our weekend trips back to the city filled my childhood with museums, culture, and the magic of Marshall Field’s. Because of that, arriving in Los Angeles wasn’t quite a culture shock — it was simply the dazzling discovery that there was so much more of what I already loved.

I still remember stepping into the I. Magnin on Wilshire Boulevard: the black‑and‑white marble floors, the elegant designer clothing, and the finest lingerie displayed like jewels under soft lighting. A peignoir set like this one — with its delicate lace, its whisper‑soft layers, its refined femininity — is exactly the kind of piece I would stop and admire, imagining the woman who would wear it. They even had a Charles of the Ritz beauty salon inside, the kind of glamorous sanctuary one no longer sees today. The moment you entered, the air was perfumed with elegant, lingering scents. Absolutely fabulous — and perhaps the very beginning of why I sell vintage now honoring the glamour of that unforgettable era.

The beautiful peignoir has nude sheer lace over the aqua lining forming a beautiful filmy shade.  There is a double ruffley collar on the robe with aqua satin ribbons to tie at the neck.  One pocket in the seam on one size.  

hick blue satin ribbon is intertwined amongst the lace around the neck front & back - there is more ruffly lace down the front to the curved hemline with a blue satin ribbon accent - the entire hem is trimmed with gathered nude lace - silky smooth nylon in the skirt of the gown.  Wide 2-1/2" lace and intertwined aqua ribbon down the front of the peignoir. More ruffley lace on the hemline.

Condition: Very good - a few tiny pinhead holes in the top layer of the nylon in the gown which I could not see until I held it up to the light & no one else will notice them either since there is another layer of nylon under that.  One side of a snap on the peignoir at the neck needs to be attached - easy fix.  

The nightgown has nude nylon over white silky nylon for a beautiful look. It complements the peignoir beautifully with intertwined blue satin riboon through lace around the neckline.  Blue satin ribbons on the front of the gown.  More lace down the front of the gown and another lace hem.

Care Instructions

We examine each item carefully and note any imperfections, but unless an item is said to be new, please don't expect it to be perfect & even some new items have small imperfections. I will always state in the description if there are any imperfections & I never do repairs but leave them to others who are better able to do them than me as that is not my expertise.

Please remember that unless specified all items have been used and will show varying signs of use or wear. We always list the obvious imperfections to the best of our abilities. However, some slight imperfections that will not show or affect wearing or using the item may slip by or not be considered worth mentioning.

Vintage nightgowns & peignoirs may be delicate so I do not wash them in the machine. I wash them in lukewarm water with Woolite or some other mild soap, then rinse & hang dripping wet in the shower.

Since these are vintage items, a bit of extra care needs to be taken with them so they remain beautiful & I definitely would never put a vintage nightgown or a peignoir in the dryer as it would ruin it.

The items are sold as we find them. We do not dry clean, launder, alter or repair vintage clothing and they should be cleaned or washed upon arrival. Please make your selection carefully & check the measurements as there is no return on clothing or other items.
