This is a fabulous asian hand-tailored hot pink & turquoise evening coat & evening gown from Kowloon, Hong Kong from my own personal collection

Since the label had "Hyatt Hotel Kowleen, Hong Kong", i decided to research this gorgeous set to what information i could find out about it - i spoke with a very helpful customer service representative at the Hyatt hotels & found out this information - the hotel was purchased in 1969 when it was called "the presidents' hotel" - after the purchase, Hyatt hotel changed the name to "the Hyatt regency" - it closed on 1/1/2006

In 1989, Hyatt hotels opened "The Grand Hyatt" in Kowloon, Hong Kong which is stunning & most definitely in business - so this beautiful set came from the Hyatt Regency anywhere from when it opened in 1969 to sometime in the '70s as this is the opulent style for that time period

It is museum quality in the bead work & artistic design of the outfit - the ensemble is in turquoise peau de soir lined with a hot pink satin lining in the coat - my photos make the lining look reddish but it is definitely a beautiful hot pink - there is, what i believe is called, trapunto stitching inside the hot pink coat lining adorned with stitched medallions

The outside of the coat has large diamond-shaped gold & turquoise frogs - the mandarin collar, neckline & down the front of the coat is trimmed with blue satin & gold trim - the turquoise hem of the coat inside is with trimmed with more hot pink satin -there is a lot of hand tailoring & stitching in this fabulous evening coat & dress - i don't know where to begin with this gorgeous evening dress it is so fabulous!

The beading is just exquisite & the dress is encrusted with red & gold beads in addition to gold shot in the form of an asian dragon & a phoenix - the gold beading is lighter, brighter & more beautiful than shown in photos - the color of gold beading is closer to the side view of the evening gown in the 4th photo up from the bottom - there are long 22 inch slits up both sides for a glimpse of legs when walking

An open keyhole in the bodice is trimmed with more blue & gold trim which travels up to the matching mandarin collar just like the coat - more frogs & a hook & eye for closure at the neckline - a long metal zipper (put in with hand stitching) in back with a snap & a hook & eye - again as with the coat, a lot of hand tailoring & stitching in this gorgeous evening gown

This is a fabulous vintage evening coat & gown ensemble that you will never see again - not only are the colors of turquoise & hot pink unique together but the beading is exquisite as one would expect from Hong Kong!

Care Instructions

We examine each item carefully and note any imperfections, but unless an item is said to be new, please don't expect it to be perfect & even some new items have small imperfections. I will always state in the description if there are any imperfections & I never do repairs but leave them to others who are better able to do them than me as that is not my expertise.

Please remember that unless specified all items have been used and will show varying signs of use or wear. We always list the obvious imperfections to the best of our abilities. However, some slight imperfections that will not show or affect wearing or using the item may slip by or not be considered worth mentioning.

Vintage nightgowns & peignoirs may be delicate so I do not wash them in the machine. I wash them in lukewarm water with Woolite or some other mild soap, then rinse & hang dripping wet in the shower.

Since these are vintage items, a bit of extra care needs to be taken with them so they remain beautiful & I definitely would never put a vintage nightgown or a peignoir in the dryer as it would ruin it.

The items are sold as we find them. We do not dry clean, launder, alter or repair vintage clothing and they should be cleaned or washed upon arrival. Please make your selection carefully & check the measurements as there is no return on clothing or other items.
