A breathtaking vintage A.J. Bari evening gown in a rich, deep amethyst satin peau de soie. This designer was sold at Neiman Marcus, Bergdorf Goodman, I. Magnin, Saks Fifth Avenue, and other luxury department stores — and this gown is a perfect example of why. The color is bold, elegant, and dramatic, and the silhouette is pure red‑carpet glamour.

The halter bodice features a plunging V‑neckline and a beautifully fitted waist. The full skirt has soft pleats for movement and volume, enhanced by the attached black soft‑net crinoline. The show‑stopping feature is the huge 5½‑inch‑wide, 118‑inch (nearly 10‑foot) sash, which can be tied in the front, back, or side. No matter how it’s styled, the bow becomes the centerpiece of the gown.

The back has a graceful split halter design, and the gown closes with an invisible back zipper and hooks and eyes. Fully lined for comfort and structure.

A fabulous vintage designer evening gown by the wonderful A.J. Bari in Amethyst.

This brand used to be sold at Neiman Marcus, Bergdorf Goodman, I. Magnin, Saks Fifth Avenue & other high end stores in the past - the color is rich, deep & striking - deep v cut bodice in a halter style with pleats in skirt for a lot of fullness - an absolutely gorgeous huge 5- 1/2 " wide long 118" or nearly 10 foot sash which ties in a bow - the bow could be in the front, on the side or in the back - no matter where it is located, it's going to be stunning - wonderful split back - beautiful smooth peau de soie fabric - invisible back zipper with hooks & eyes - lined & has an attached black soft net crinoline

Care Instructions

We examine each item carefully and note any imperfections, but unless an item is said to be new, please don't expect it to be perfect & even some new items have small imperfections. I will always state in the description if there are any imperfections & I never do repairs but leave them to others who are better able to do them than me as that is not my expertise.

Please remember that unless specified all items have been used and will show varying signs of use or wear. We always list the obvious imperfections to the best of our abilities. However, some slight imperfections that will not show or affect wearing or using the item may slip by or not be considered worth mentioning.

Vintage nightgowns & peignoirs may be delicate so I do not wash them in the machine. I wash them in lukewarm water with Woolite or some other mild soap, then rinse & hang dripping wet in the shower.

Since these are vintage items, a bit of extra care needs to be taken with them so they remain beautiful & I definitely would never put a vintage nightgown or a peignoir in the dryer as it would ruin it.

The items are sold as we find them. We do not dry clean, launder, alter or repair vintage clothing and they should be cleaned or washed upon arrival. Please make your selection carefully & check the measurements as there is no return on clothing or other items.
