VINTAGE CARPET BAG ITALIAN STYLE TAPESTRY HANDBAG - 1980s/ 90s ERA - GOLD ROPE HANDLES - SCARLET FLORAL TAPESTRY

Stunning vintage tapestry handbag from the 1980s-90s era. I came across a very similar bag with the same gold rope handles, same metal zipper pull, and  same gold decorative accents at the handle base and the person identified hers as a vintage Medea from Italy. While I cannot confirm the brand with certainty, the construction and design details are consistent with Italian craftsmanship from that era.

This piece features gorgeous deep scarlet fabric adorned with greenish-gold floral flowers, leaves, and vine motifs throughout.

Details:
•    Thick twisted dark gold rope handles with decorative gold round accents at the base
•    Metal charm on zipper pull
•    Full-length top zipper with interior middle zipper for organization
•    Interior side pocket with zipper
•    Small open pocket on opposite side (perfect for license, keys, or bills)
•    Spacious interior
 •    Miniature sparkling braid around the top of the purse

Measurements:
•    Width: 14" across at widest point
•    Height: 7.5"
•    Handle length: 23" end to end
•    Drop: approximately 9"

Condition: The tapestry exterior and rope handles are in excellent vintage condition with beautiful, vibrant rich colors. Interior is clean and functional with all zippers working properly.  (This is what people will be seeing.)  

Please note: There is wear along the interior fabric on either side of the top along the zipper (slight depressions) (photo) and the bottom shows age-related wear (photo) including some gold finish loss and crackling same as mentioned above around the inside and zipper - common for vintage pieces of this era. The bottom could easily be restored by a leather professional if desired though it's not visible during wear and no one will be seeing the bottom of your purse.  (People will not be seeing these imperfections unless they are looking at the bottom of the purse or the interior.)

Care Instructions

We examine each item carefully and note any imperfections, but unless an item is said to be new, please don't expect it to be perfect & even some new items have small imperfections. I will always state in the description if there are any imperfections & I never do repairs but leave them to others who are better able to do them than me as that is not my expertise.

Please remember that unless specified all items have been used and will show varying signs of use or wear. We always list the obvious imperfections to the best of our abilities. However, some slight imperfections that will not show or affect wearing or using the item may slip by or not be considered worth mentioning.

Vintage nightgowns & peignoirs may be delicate so I do not wash them in the machine. I wash them in lukewarm water with Woolite or some other mild soap, then rinse & hang dripping wet in the shower.

Since these are vintage items, a bit of extra care needs to be taken with them so they remain beautiful & I definitely would never put a vintage nightgown or a peignoir in the dryer as it would ruin it.

The items are sold as we find them. We do not dry clean, launder, alter or repair vintage clothing and they should be cleaned or washed upon arrival. Please make your selection carefully & check the measurements as there is no return on clothing or other items.
