VINTAGE 1940s 1950s CHILD'S CRANBERRY WINTER COAT WITH RABBIT FUR & POM POMS

$ 99.00

I found this cute child's coat in Tucson, Arizona many, many decades ago!  A very sweet 1940s / 1950s child's Cranberry winter coat with creamy off white rabbit sleeves, collar and pom poms.  (Very hard to get the correct shade of the coat but it is a cross between a deep red and berry.)

It feels like wool and I think the white fur is rabbit since that was used a lot in that era.  The pom poms are on a string and slip under the collar and tie in front.  You might want to tack the ties in back under the collar with a few stitches so it does not get lost sometime.

2 pretty buttons at the top of the coat with expensive bound button holes which are rarely seen nowadays except once in a while in very expensive garments for women.  Nice detailing on the upper back of the coat.  There is an extra button which is great underneath the lining inside in case one gets lost.   Fully lined.  The fur is very smooth and silky.

No fabric content tag, mfg's tag nor size tag so you will have to go by the measurements and check the measurements against another coat that the child already has in her wardrobe so you know that it will fit as thereare no returns.

Approximate Measurements – This means the measurements of the item listed – not of the person's own figure.  You must be a few inches smaller than the measurements shown.  And with a coat allow more room as the child will be wearing a sweater or top under it.

Bust area under the arms and across to the other side:  33-34  (already doubled)
Shoulder to shoulder in back:  14
Neck to end of sleeves:  25 - ( If too long, they can be altered by cutting them off and hemming as well as the lining or have the dry cleaner do it as they can do it very quick since they do adjustments on a regular basis.
Shoulder to bottom of coat:  22-5/8
Condition:  There are a few imperfections.  And for a coat this old,  I am surprised as well as glad there are not more because it is such a cute coat.  3 spots on  the front lower near the hemline. (Photo) The largest is 1/2".  Some moth holes on the lower left side where the spots are and on the inside hemline some more and it could be hemmed up a bit by the cleaner or pull them together with a needle and thread.  Easy fix if you did not want to have the cleaner do it.  4-1/4" of the hem and a few  inches under the arm lining need to be resewn.  One side of the inside of the coat needs some of the lining that attaches to the coat to be resewn as shown in the photos.  If you have sewn in your life, this would take less than 30 minutes and maybe not that long.  When I have something to sew like this, I do it when watching tv and it done in no time. Or have the cleaner do it which would be even better!

Care Instructions

We examine each item carefully and note any imperfections, but unless an item is said to be new, please don't expect it to be perfect & even some new items have small imperfections. I will always state in the description if there are any imperfections & I never do repairs but leave them to others who are better able to do them than me as that is not my expertise.

Please remember that unless specified all items have been used and will show varying signs of use or wear. We always list the obvious imperfections to the best of our abilities. However, some slight imperfections that will not show or affect wearing or using the item may slip by or not be considered worth mentioning.

Vintage nightgowns & peignoirs may be delicate so I do not wash them in the machine. I wash them in lukewarm water with Woolite or some other mild soap, then rinse & hang dripping wet in the shower.

Since these are vintage items, a bit of extra care needs to be taken with them so they remain beautiful & I definitely would never put a vintage nightgown or a peignoir in the dryer as it would ruin it.

The items are sold as we find them. We do not dry clean, launder, alter or repair vintage clothing and they should be cleaned or washed upon arrival. Please make your selection carefully & check the measurements as there is no return on clothing or other items.
