VINTAGE 1980s BOB MACKIE NEIMAN MARCUS STRAPLESS SEQUIN BEADED COCKTAIL DRESS EVENING GOWN IN GOLDEN PINEAPPLE VINTAGE PROM DRESS GLAMOROUS COCKTAIL DRESS
$ 575.00
Bob Mackie is known for his glamorous sequin feathered evening gowns and cocktail dresses and this one is no exception! It is heavy with sequins and beading in various colors as one can see if one magnifies the photos. He has designed for movie stars and other well-known celebrities known the world over.
Bob Mackie started off his career in designing working as a sketch artist for Jean Louis and Edith Head who created so many glamorous and gorgeous evening gowns and other clothes for the stars in so many old movies. When I see the names Edith Head and Jean Louis, I know the clothes are going to be fabulous. So Bob Mackie was off to a wonderful start in his career by working for these two extremely talented designers.
The color of the expensive jaquard silk in the cocktail dress is in a shade called Golden Pineapple which is a combination of a yellow shade and a golden shade. It goes beautifully with the Jet Black bodice and the other gorgeous sequin and shot colors of Clover, Gold Dust, Sparkling Silver, Icicle and Sweet Cream.
There is boning in the bodice in various areas. Built-in covered bra with a lining in the bodice. The beautiful silk skirt consists of the top silk layer, a fine sheer layer of fabric and then a silky under lining. Long back zipper with a hook and eye at the top. 4 long thin "cord-like ribbons" to secure the dress to a hanger. The dress has some weight to it because of the 4 layers of fabric but especially the encrusted sequins, shot and various heavy beading.
Beautiful for a prom, engagement dinner, Christmas party, cruise or New Year's Eve when you want to look fabulous!

Size: 8 (but not really - more of a size 4 - 6) but go by the measurements for a good fit. Measure a dress that you own and make sure that it is close to the following measurements so it will fit you.
It was showing on my size 6 manniquin with the measurements of :
Bust: 34.2 Inches
Waist: 25.2 Inches
Hips: 35.7 Inches.
Approximate Measurements – This means the measurements of the item listed – not of your own figure. You must be a few inches smaller than the measurements shown as this dress will not stretch or have any "give" to it.
Bust: 33 - 34 but leave room for movement
Waist: 25 - 26
Hips: Full
Length: from underarm to hem 28 - 29
Fabric: Silk, Triacetate and Poly
Care: No tag but dry clean
Condition: Excellent condition - might not have been worn much at all but if it has it was only once or twice as it looks great - some loose and missing beads but they will never be noticed with the abundance of the ones on this cocktail dress! The zipper sticks a bit at the waistline because of the beading but you just have to be careful and patient with zipping it up as I did several times. This is common in most heavily beaded gowns around the zipper area.

Care Instructions
We examine each item carefully and note any imperfections, but unless an item is said to be new, please don't expect it to be perfect & even some new items have small imperfections. I will always state in the description if there are any imperfections & I never do repairs but leave them to others who are better able to do them than me as that is not my expertise.
Please remember that unless specified all items have been used and will show varying signs of use or wear. We always list the obvious imperfections to the best of our abilities. However, some slight imperfections that will not show or affect wearing or using the item may slip by or not be considered worth mentioning.
Vintage nightgowns & peignoirs may be delicate so I do not wash them in the machine. I wash them in lukewarm water with Woolite or some other mild soap, then rinse & hang dripping wet in the shower.
Since these are vintage items, a bit of extra care needs to be taken with them so they remain beautiful & I definitely would never put a vintage nightgown or a peignoir in the dryer as it would ruin it.
The items are sold as we find them. We do not dry clean, launder, alter or repair vintage clothing and they should be cleaned or washed upon arrival. Please make your selection carefully & check the measurements. We hope you enjoy what you purchased but we know sometimes things do not fit quite as you would like or the color is wrong. In that case, we do allow one exchange or a store credit on any item that you want. There are about 2,000 items in the store and more are being added all the time so you have a large selection to choose from.
You must email before returning an item so I can give you the information that you need to exchange the item.
