GLAMOROUS 1960 / 1970s NITA CLAIRE GRECIAN EVENING GOWN ENCRUSTED WITH RHINESTONES BEADS SHOT SEQUINS & METAL ZIPPER IN CHARTREUSE

A stunning very glamorous vintage Grecian-look evening gown encrusted with huge rhinestones, beads, shot, and sequins around the neck and down both of the split sides.  I remember so well these gorgeous evening gowns ladened with the most gorgeous rhinestones, beading and sequins in the late 1960s and early 1970s.  This was the era for the evening gowns that were loaded with dazzling huge prong-set rhinestones, glass shot, sequins and beads.

The color of the evening gown is striking as it is a light chartruese It was hard to get the correct shade of chartreuse - sort of a lemon-lime shade but even more gorgeous.  Not a color you see a lot of unfortunately.  I tried to get as close as I could with the correct color but it is much prettier in real life. 

The amount of "jewels" on this dress is outstanding and it gives the dress quite a bit of weight and alot of interest.  Both sides of the dress are open and connect with thread hooks and eyes for fastening.  At one time there may have been shorts or plazzo pants to go under it as I have seen that look but I do not know for sure.  

If you do not want both sides open with just the hooks as you will be able to see skin from the underarm down, you could have an alteration person sew up the sides to close it.  The way it is one would have to wear something under it I would imagine although I have seen people wearing a lot less nowadays.

The former owner used safety pins to close it on one side and I am leaving it just as I found it as I do not alter or "fix" any item just describe it so it is known before it is purchased.  One side of the dress has 3 hooks and eyes in addition to the safety pins and the other side has 4 hooks and eyes.  She removed the hook and eye at the very top of the underarm and sewed it together.

The detail on this evening gown with the rhinestones and beading is amazing!  The evening gown is heavy with the abundance of mixed rhinestones, beads, sequins and shot - all brilliant!

The dress is completely lined with the same fabric as the dress which feels like crepe with no exposed seams except where the metal zipper is in back.   The vintage metal zipper in back has two hooks and eyes above the zipper.  

The dress is heavy with all of the fabric but mostly from the elaborate use of the jewels on it.
 
The color of the dress is absolutely gorgeous with the encrusted sparkling jewels and the open sides -  they make the evening gown spectacular.  Manufacturers just don't make evening gowns like this with the amount of jewels and care like they did decades ago  

Perfect for a formal affair, a ball, a cruise or any special formal event.

Size: No size tag but my model is a Size 6 and it fit her well.

Fabric: No tag but a light crepe-like fabric on the top and the lining
Care: No tag but dry clean 
Condition: Very good.  There are some loose and missing rhinestones and other beads but there are so many on here and they could be replaced by taking some from the bottom of the gown and transferring them to areas that need them.  I would probably leave it just as it is as there are so many there, they would never be noticed.  Some pinpricks of soiling on the front and a couple of smaller spots on the lower front about 3/8" and 5/8" (the larger one blends into the dress and I only saw this during the day in bright light.  At night no one will see these.) Hemline in front and the lining inside on the skirt has soiling but that is to be expected on an evening gown that touches the floor and a good cleaner should be able to take care of that plus any tiny spots that may be there.  And again no one will see thesee because they are so far down and some inside as they will be looking at all of the sparkling jewels on the dress.)   I did not see any huge ones - all smaller.

Care Instructions

We examine each item carefully and note any imperfections, but unless an item is said to be new, please don't expect it to be perfect & even some new items have small imperfections. I will always state in the description if there are any imperfections & I never do repairs but leave them to others who are better able to do them than me as that is not my expertise.

Please remember that unless specified all items have been used and will show varying signs of use or wear. We always list the obvious imperfections to the best of our abilities. However, some slight imperfections that will not show or affect wearing or using the item may slip by or not be considered worth mentioning.

Vintage nightgowns & peignoirs may be delicate so I do not wash them in the machine. I wash them in lukewarm water with Woolite or some other mild soap, then rinse & hang dripping wet in the shower.

Since these are vintage items, a bit of extra care needs to be taken with them so they remain beautiful & I definitely would never put a vintage nightgown or a peignoir in the dryer as it would ruin it.

The items are sold as we find them. We do not dry clean, launder, alter or repair vintage clothing and they should be cleaned or washed upon arrival. Please make your selection carefully & check the measurements. We hope you enjoy what you purchased but we know sometimes things do not fit quite as you would like or the color is wrong.  In that case, we do allow one exchange or a store credit on any item that you want. There are about 2,000 items in the store and more are being added all the time so you have a large selection to choose from.

You must email before returning an item so I can give you the information that you need to exchange the item.
