CUTE VINTAGE OLEG CASINNI SIGNATURE BISON SUMMER DRESS IN BEAUTIFUL COLORS

$ 84.99 $ 99.99

The information below on Oleg Cassini is from the Vintage Fashion Guild and my thanks to them.

Oleg Cassini (1913-2006) first started designing in 1936, working for various stores in New York City. In 1940 he went to Hollywood where he designed costumes for 20th Century Fox. There, he met and married actress Gene Tierney in 1941. By the early 1950s he was back in New York, where he was designing under his own name. His look was very sexy and, at times, flamboyant.

But he was best known as the “Couturier to Camelot,” and his fashion collaboration with First Lady Jackie Kennedy. That collaboration had a profound impact on the way American women dressed, with the “Jackie O” look coming to mean simple designs with easy fit, straight lines, boxy jackets, and very restrained use of trims or ornamentation. Since the mid 1960s, he did little top line ready-to-wear and licensed his name extensively in swimwear, hosiery, foundations, sportswear, fur, and costume jewelry, to name but a few lines of products.

One of Oleg Cassini’s last lines was the Platinum Collection, made to order evening and bridal gowns based on his 1960s designs for Mrs. Kennedy. He died in March, 2006.

A very cute summer sun dress adorned with American bisons scattered over the skirt along with his Oleg Cassini's signature.

I love the colors in this dress because the top is white and then there are bright colors on the skirt in Marine Blue, Emerald, Scarlet, Tan and Mandarin.

This dress may have been custom made using Oleg Cassini fabric so it is hard to say what the fabric is since there is not tag but probably a soft poly which feels very nice.

As it says in the information above "Since the mid 1960s, he did little top line ready-to-wear and licensed his name extensively in swimwear, hosiery, foundations, sportswear, fur, and costume jewelry, to name but a few lines of products."  So he could have licensed his name to fabric as well.

There are cute ties on the shoulder which can be adjusted and elastic in the waist for a good fit. Right around the hem area, there are colorful diamond shaped figures with Oleg Cassini's signature and figures of bison above them.

The dress is shown with a scarlet belt which is just for illustration purposes and is not included with this dress.

A very cute vintage novelty sundress which would be very cool for this upcoming summer season.

Care Instructions

We examine each item carefully and note any imperfections, but unless an item is said to be new, please don't expect it to be perfect & even some new items have small imperfections. I will always state in the description if there are any imperfections & I never do repairs but leave them to others who are better able to do them than me as that is not my expertise.

Please remember that unless specified all items have been used and will show varying signs of use or wear. We always list the obvious imperfections to the best of our abilities. However, some slight imperfections that will not show or affect wearing or using the item may slip by or not be considered worth mentioning.

Vintage nightgowns & peignoirs may be delicate so I do not wash them in the machine. I wash them in lukewarm water with Woolite or some other mild soap, then rinse & hang dripping wet in the shower.

Since these are vintage items, a bit of extra care needs to be taken with them so they remain beautiful & I definitely would never put a vintage nightgown or a peignoir in the dryer as it would ruin it.

The items are sold as we find them. We do not dry clean, launder, alter or repair vintage clothing and they should be cleaned or washed upon arrival. Please make your selection carefully & check the measurements as there is no return on clothing or other items.
