VINTAGE 50S 60S DYNASTY SILK SATIN DRESSING GOWN ROBE JADE WITH CRANES AND BUTTERFLIES MADE IN HONG KONG BRITISH CROWN COLONY
$ 169.00
Original Price $499.99
A gorgeous vintage 50s 60s Dynasty silk satin robe in Jade. There are cranes and butterflies floating in the background with islands and blossoming flowers.
Made in Hong Kong British Crown Colony. According to the internet British rule ceased in 1997 in Hong Kong after more than a century and a half. So the robe was made before 1997 because it would not say "British Crown Colony" on the manufacturer's label. I am sure it was made much earlier in the '50s or '60s.
The color of the robe is absolutely gorgeous in a soft green. It is decorated with beautiful colored butterflies, cranes and flowers. Unfortunately, when I would take a closeup view of the butterflies and cranes, the color did not do justice to the fabric and they looked washed out. There are cranes in turquoise, gold and brown. Others in purple, gold and green, some in crimson with brown and gold wings. I wish the colors had come out as they really are but unfortunately, they did not but you will not be disappointed with them as they are gorgeous and a work of art! The same is true of the butterflies and the flowers. Absolutely stunning!
There is a Mandarin collar on the robe along with fabulous frogs for closure. Large diamond-shaped gussets underneath each arm for better movement. (Photo) These are not the cheap frogs one sees now out of soft thread. These are stiff and very sturdy and gorgeous. There is a placket underneath the frogs so if you should be able to stretch and extend your arms, one will not see skin underneath but fabric. The inside of the robe is as beautiful as the outside with no exposed seams. It is lined with soft jade smooth luscious silk fabric. At the bottom of the robe, there is a flat silk-covered button with a silk tab on the other. It is there for you to fasten once you get the robe on. That way it will not flap open when you walk or sit down.
The robe is absolutely gorgeous!

Care Instructions
We examine each item carefully and note any imperfections, but unless an item is said to be new, please don't expect it to be perfect & even some new items have small imperfections. I will always state in the description if there are any imperfections & I never do repairs but leave them to others who are better able to do them than me as that is not my expertise.
Please remember that unless specified all items have been used and will show varying signs of use or wear. We always list the obvious imperfections to the best of our abilities. However, some slight imperfections that will not show or affect wearing or using the item may slip by or not be considered worth mentioning.
Vintage nightgowns & peignoirs may be delicate so I do not wash them in the machine. I wash them in lukewarm water with Woolite or some other mild soap, then rinse & hang dripping wet in the shower.
Since these are vintage items, a bit of extra care needs to be taken with them so they remain beautiful & I definitely would never put a vintage nightgown or a peignoir in the dryer as it would ruin it.
The items are sold as we find them. We do not dry clean, launder, alter or repair vintage clothing and they should be cleaned or washed upon arrival. Please make your selection carefully & check the measurements as there is no return on clothing or other items.
