This is one of the most beautiful vintage evening gowns that I have ever seen!
The evening gown is by Victor Costa from Saks Fifth Avenue so one know not only was the dress very expensive, it is high quality as well.  The label for both Victor Costa and Saks Fifth Avenue date from the 1980s / early 1990s and are identical to the labels on The Vintage Fashion Guild site and my thanks to them.

The bodice of this evening gown is just spectacular especially when you look at the low cut neckline with the high "peaks" front and back as well as the beautiful deep rounded cut out under the arms.  There are 35 velvet covered buttons down the front of the evening gown for interest with a long zipper in back with a hook and eye. There is boning in the front and back bodice of the evening gown to keep it up and smooth looking.

The dress is very heavy from weight of all the lush velvet and other fabric. It must weigh several pounds.  It has a black satin lining and the former owner added a lightly padded black bra to the dress which was an excellent idea so the dress will not need an additional bra.

The dress fans out towards the bottom and practically makes a "train" so the fabric "pools".  I have lightened some of the photos so the detail may be seen.  There is a 3-1/2" horsehair strip surrounding the hemline to give the hem some body.

Absolutely gorgeous and perfect for a red carpet event or black tie evening!

Appx Measurements
Size: No tag so go by the measurements - My dress form is a size 6 but it was a bit tight on it and velvet does NOT stretch so go by the measurements but leave some room for movement as the measurements pertain to the dress measurements only not your measurements.

The measurements of the DRESS FORM are: Bust: 34.2 Inches Waist: 25.2 Inches Hips: 35.7 Inches.

The following measurements are the measurements of the dress so your measurements need to be smaller than the measurements shown in order to get into the dress.

Approximate measurements of the EVENING GOWN:

Hips: 35 - 36  leave a couple of inches for movement

Care Instructions

We examine each item carefully and note any imperfections, but unless an item is said to be new, please don't expect it to be perfect & even some new items have small imperfections. I will always state in the description if there are any imperfections & I never do repairs but leave them to others who are better able to do them than me as that is not my expertise.

Please remember that unless specified all items have been used and will show varying signs of use or wear. We always list the obvious imperfections to the best of our abilities. However, some slight imperfections that will not show or affect wearing or using the item may slip by or not be considered worth mentioning. Vintage nightgowns & peignoirs may be delicate so I do not wash them in the machine. I wash them in lukewarm water with Woolite or some other mild soap, then rinse & hang dripping wet in the shower. Since these are vintage items, a bit of extra care needs to be taken with them so they remain beautiful & I definitely would never put a vintage nightgown or a peignoir in the dryer as it would ruin it. The items are sold as we find them. We do not dry clean, launder, alter or repair vintage clothing and they should be cleaned or washed upon arrival. Please make your selection carefully & check the measurements as there is no return on clothing or other items.
