The following is some information from the Claire Pettibone website that I was able to find.  Claire Pettibone was born in rural New York & grew up in a 19th century farmhouse on acres of rolling hills. She had a lot of time to explore and was fascinated by the beauty of the forests with the leaves and flowers and wildlife. She dreamed of castles and fairy princesses and draws her inspiration of the gorgeous lingerie from that.  Her parents were artists and she visited galleries and museums when a child and was influenced by all of the beauty which she brings to all of her creations.  While a child, she studied ballet and her nightgowns and lingerie are influenced by the grace and beauty of the dance.

She attended the world famous Parsons School of Design in Los Angeles and formed her own company with her husband in 1994.  She uses only the finest French and Venetian laces and appliques together with the most exquisite fabrics available to design the most beautiful and  feminine lingerie.  Her gorgeous creations are sold worldwide in the most expensive boutiques and stores everywhere.

This beautiful bombshell fitting dress is from my own personal collection.  I wore it only for about 1-1/2 hours while at dinner on a cruise and I received a lot of compliments on it.

The color of the dress is a shade of Burgundy Nutmeg with Snapdragon Pink, Purple, Toasted Coconut and Aqua Sea tie dyed look shades on the front, sides and back.  The fabric is wonderful in a rayon and spandex blend and feels and drapes like a jersey fabric. The sleeves are set in and are widened at the ends with a modified lettuce leaf like edge.  There is ruching at the neckline as well as down the sides of the dress which is what makes the dress a fabulous fit.  A strip of elastic down the sides forms the ruching to give one a bombshell figure. The elastic stops about 1/3 of the way before the hem line and there is a semi-handkerchief look on the sides which are bias cut for a beautiful drape.

I have the long sleeve on top of the shoulder in the side view so the gorgeous colors can be seen.

Claire Pettibone clothes are expensive and she is well known for her lingerie as well. The short babydoll sets retail for approximately $600 with the longer sets even more and some of her peignoirs are now $2,950 on the Claire Pettibone website.

A very unique and striking tie dyed draped cocktail evening dress which will have all heads turning when you enter the room.

Care Instructions

We examine each item carefully and note any imperfections, but unless an item is said to be new, please don't expect it to be perfect & even some new items have small imperfections. I will always state in the description if there are any imperfections & I never do repairs but leave them to others who are better able to do them than me as that is not my expertise.

Please remember that unless specified all items have been used and will show varying signs of use or wear. We always list the obvious imperfections to the best of our abilities. However, some slight imperfections that will not show or affect wearing or using the item may slip by or not be considered worth mentioning.

Vintage nightgowns & peignoirs may be delicate so I do not wash them in the machine. I wash them in lukewarm water with Woolite or some other mild soap, then rinse & hang dripping wet in the shower.

Since these are vintage items, a bit of extra care needs to be taken with them so they remain beautiful & I definitely would never put a vintage nightgown or a peignoir in the dryer as it would ruin it.

The items are sold as we find them. We do not dry clean, launder, alter or repair vintage clothing and they should be cleaned or washed upon arrival. Please make your selection carefully & check the measurements as there is no return on clothing or other items.
