* VINTAGE EARLY '50s SPRING LILAC NYLON AND POLISHED COTTON METAL ZIPPER DRESS ADORNED WITH BLUE SATIN RIBBON AND ROSE - ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL!
$ 399.99
An absolutely gorgeous dress from the early 1950s adorned with Spring Lilacs. I love this dress as it reminds me of a swimsuit I purchased in the '60s / 70s of a white one piece swim suit that had lilacs scattered over it. I wish I had kept that suit as it was one of the most beautiful swimsuits that I have ever seen in decades!
The dress was constructed with care and very good workmanship as so many clothes were in the '50s and the eras surrounding that. The lilacs are scattered over a light polished bodice and underskirt with a sheer baby blue nylon over that. The polished cotton fabric with the lilacs are still very vivid and clear and have not lost their beautiful colors even after all of these years! The neckline has blue satin piping as well as around the ends of the short sleeves. There is a wide double faced heavy luscious blue satin "belt" around the waist with a huge satin rose and very long streamers. Vintage metal zipper in back with a hook and eye at the waist. Beautiful wide nylon hem on the overskirt. There is a crinoline inside the full dress which gives the dress some poof and makes for 3 layers in this vintage dress!
Absolutely Beautiful!
By: No tag but it was made by some very good manufacturer as one can tell from the construction of the dress.
Size: Size 14 tag but that was before the sizes were altered in the '70s by manufacturers and pattern makers and they did a whole redo of women's sizes. So go by the measurements and not the size as this certainly is not anywhere near a size 14 but more like a Size 6 as it fit my mannequin well.
Here are the measurement of my Size 6 mannequin: Bust 34.2 Waist: 25.2 Hips: 35.7
Approximate Measurements – This means the measurements of the item listed –NOT OF YOUR OWN FIGURE. You must be a few inches smaller than the measurements shown.
Bust: 35 - 36 but leave some room for movement
Waist: 26
Length: 43-1/2
Fabric: No tag but silky nylon over polished cotton
Care: No tag so I would dry clean
Condition: Very good - Some soiling at the hemline which I will see if I can eliminate but it may not be possible but no one will see it down on the hemline.

Care Instructions
We examine each item carefully and note any imperfections, but unless an item is said to be new, please don't expect it to be perfect & even some new items have small imperfections. I will always state in the description if there are any imperfections & I never do repairs but leave them to others who are better able to do them than me as that is not my expertise.
Please remember that unless specified all items have been used and will show varying signs of use or wear. We always list the obvious imperfections to the best of our abilities. However, some slight imperfections that will not show or affect wearing or using the item may slip by or not be considered worth mentioning.
Vintage nightgowns & peignoirs may be delicate so I do not wash them in the machine. I wash them in lukewarm water with Woolite or some other mild soap, then rinse & hang dripping wet in the shower.
Since these are vintage items, a bit of extra care needs to be taken with them so they remain beautiful & I definitely would never put a vintage nightgown or a peignoir in the dryer as it would ruin it.
The items are sold as we find them. We do not dry clean, launder, alter or repair vintage clothing and they should be cleaned or washed upon arrival. Please make your selection carefully & check the measurements as there is no return on clothing or other items.
