VINTAGE '50s VELVETY COAT WITH HUGE BUTTONS IN SAPPHIRE
A lovely vintage velvety or velveteen coat in a gorgeous shade called Sapphire. The photos were very difficult to adjust for the perfect color and I still not get it the correct shade but got as close as I could and it is a stunning color in real life. Very rich and lush looking jewel-tone shade.
I noticed that the coat looks dark turquoise teal in some light and then closer to royal blue in other light so the color will vary depending on the lighting conditions.
The coat is in a rich feeling velvery fabric and is fairly heavy. Large collar. There are three 1-3/4" self-covered buttons with expensive bound buttonholes which one never sees nowadays. Fully lined in a satiny fabric. 7/8 sleeves which are perfect for wearing your favorite ruched buttery leather gloves. Two slanted pockets on the outside of the coat.
A lovely vintage velvety coat which would be beautiful over your evening gowns or cocktail dresses
By: No tag
Size: No tag - I wear a size 10 and it was a perfect fit and would not fit a larger size but will fit smaller sizes.
Approximate Measurements – This means the measurements of the item listed – not of your own figure. You must be a few inches smaller than the measurements shown.
Sleeve from neck: 24-3/4
Shoulder to shoulder: Cannot measure because of the way the sleeves are set in at a slant
Fabric: No tag but a velvety fabric with a satin lining
Care: Dry clean
Condition: Very good - small 2-1/3" of one of the lining's armhole has come open but it is in a seam and very easy to tack together with a few stitches or the cleaners can do it. I would suggest taking the coat as well as any vintage items that you purchase to the cleaners so they can press and clean the item. I will not attempt to press the coat because of the velvety fabric so I cannot steam it. There will be wrinkles in the coat which the cleaners can eliminate since they know how to do it and have the correct equipment to press this type of fabric which I do not. Some soiling or fading on the INSIDE neckline which no one will see and the cleaners may be able to take care of that.

We examine each item carefully and note any imperfections, but unless an item is said to be new, please don't expect it to be perfect & even some new items have small imperfections. I will always state in the description if there are any imperfections & I never do repairs but leave them to others who are better able to do them than me as that is not my expertise.
Please remember that unless specified all items have been used and will show varying signs of use or wear. We always list the obvious imperfections to the best of our abilities. However, some slight imperfections that will not show or affect wearing or using the item may slip by or not be considered worth mentioning.
Vintage nightgowns & peignoirs may be delicate so I do not wash them in the machine. I wash them in lukewarm water with Woolite or some other mild soap, then rinse & hang dripping wet in the shower.
Since these are vintage items, a bit of extra care needs to be taken with them so they remain beautiful & I definitely would never put a vintage nightgown or a peignoir in the dryer as it would ruin it.
The items are sold as we find them. We do not dry clean, launder, alter or repair vintage clothing and they should be cleaned or washed upon arrival. Please make your selection carefully & check the measurements as there is no return on clothing or other items.
