Wayne Clark, a Canadian designer known as "The King of Glamour", is renowned for his fabulous evening gowns and cocktail dresses and this is just another example of his beautiful work.  He is still creating his stunning evening wear today and his creations are worn by celebrities and fashionable women the world over!

The color is gorgeous in Amethyst and the fabric changes color from a reddish purple to a bluer purple depending on the lighting conditions.  There is a lot of expensive quilting on this vintage dress.  There a lot of quilting starting with 5" quilting on the bodice of the dress which narrows down towards the bust line.  There is more quilting in the waist area which is 9" from top to bottom in the shape of a diamond inset which travels all the way around to the back.  Sheer flowing sleeves with a beautiful sparkling multi-faceted amethyst rhinestone button and decorative jacquard binding on the ends of the cuff.  The details to this are amazing and one never sees this in contemporary clothes nowadays.  In addition to the jacquard binding on the ends of the cuffs, it is also on all the seams on the skirt of the dress as well as the hemline for a beautiful finish to the dress.

Shoulder pads in the dress which can easily be removed. There is a wide nearly 6" set in quilted yolk in the back with pleated chiffon under that with an opening so one's back can be seen.  More quilting in the back waist area with a zipper and 4 loops with 1 button.  3 buttons are missing but it would be easy to replace all of them with new tiny buttons. 2 pockets in the seams.

The dress is very heavy because of the quilting plus there is a lot of fabric in the skirt of the dress with 2 layers of the grand sweep skirt.  The skirt diameter measures 485" or 40-1/2 FEET of swirling chiffon!  And this is just the top layer.  There is a 2nd layer under that!

I love this dress and if it were my size, I would definitely keep it for myself as it is perfect for a cruise or a formal affair.  Very elegant and perfect for a mother of a bride, a guest at a wedding, a cruise or any formal occasion.

By: Aline Marelle for Wayne Clark
Size: 8 but go by the measurements as the sizing has changed over the years.  It fit my Size 6 model perfectly and will not fit today's Size 8 but rather a Size 6.
Approximate Measurements – This means the measurements of the item listed – not of your own figure.  You must be a few inches smaller than the measurements shown.
This is for a small person and will not fit any measurements larger than shown below as it fit my model perfectly.
Models measurements:
Bust: 34.2
Waist: 25 stretched tight
Hips:  35.7

Measurements of dress:
Bust: 34 - 36 stretched a bit because of the pleats
Shoulder to shoulder: 15-1/2
Waist:  26 - 27 but leave some room for movement
Sleeves from neck:  30 - 31
Fabric: Fabric tag has been cut out but probably Poly Chiffon
Care: Dry clean
Condition: Very good - missing 3 buttons that button under the waist but this is an easy fix - tiny 1/4" hole in the voluminous skirt that will never be seen because of the volume of fabric and it falls into the fold of the skirt.

Care Instructions

We examine each item carefully and note any imperfections, but unless an item is said to be new, please don't expect it to be perfect & even some new items have small imperfections. I will always state in the description if there are any imperfections & I never do repairs but leave them to others who are better able to do them than me as that is not my expertise.

Please remember that unless specified all items have been used and will show varying signs of use or wear. We always list the obvious imperfections to the best of our abilities. However, some slight imperfections that will not show or affect wearing or using the item may slip by or not be considered worth mentioning.

Vintage nightgowns & peignoirs may be delicate so I do not wash them in the machine. I wash them in lukewarm water with Woolite or some other mild soap, then rinse & hang dripping wet in the shower.

Since these are vintage items, a bit of extra care needs to be taken with them so they remain beautiful & I definitely would never put a vintage nightgown or a peignoir in the dryer as it would ruin it.

The items are sold as we find them. We do not dry clean, launder, alter or repair vintage clothing and they should be cleaned or washed upon arrival. Please make your selection carefully & check the measurements. We hope you enjoy what you purchased but we know sometimes things do not fit quite as you would like or the color is wrong.  In that case, we do allow one exchange or a store credit on any item that you want. There are about 2,000 items in the store and more are being added all the time so you have a large selection to choose from.

You must email before returning an item so I can give you the information that you need to exchange the item.

International customer have 14 days to contact Midnight Glamour about returning an item if they should want to.  International customers may have to pay be additional customs and import taxes and there maybe unforeseen customs delays. The seller is not responsible for these delays nor for the custom charges as that is the international customer's obligation when purchasing an item outside your country.
