A vintage black velvet or velveteen evening jacket by Bill Blass Collections III.  Bill Blass and Valentino have always been my favorite designers.  I especially love Bill Blass' life story where he rose from being very poor to become one of the most famous and talented designers there ever was!

The label on the jacket is identical to one on the Vintage Fashion Guild site from the 1980s and my thanks to them.

The Bill Blass III Collections was sold in the finest stores in the past such as Neiman Marcus, Bergdorf Goodman, Saks Fifth Avenue and others where you would find other expensive designer clothes.

The color is in a rich black although the photos may the ruffles a light black or grayish shade.  The fabric is soft, lush and beautiful.

Black taffeta pleats surround the neckline, down the front and around the bottom of the jacket.  I believe the original jacket did not come with any closures on the front but there are 2 hooks and eyes on the jacket which the former owner may have added and can be removed if you wish. I believe it was made to be worn open over one's evening gown or cocktail dress so the dress may be seen underneath it.  Fully lined.

I have lightened some of the photos so the detailing may be shown.

A gorgeous luscious evening jacket perfect over an evening gown, cocktail dress, with palazzo evening pants or an evening skirt.  Perfect for the upcoming holidays!

Care Instructions

We examine each item carefully and note any imperfections, but unless an item is said to be new, please don't expect it to be perfect & even some new items have small imperfections. I will always state in the description if there are any imperfections & I never do repairs but leave them to others who are better able to do them than me as that is not my expertise.

Please remember that unless specified all items have been used and will show varying signs of use or wear. We always list the obvious imperfections to the best of our abilities. However, some slight imperfections that will not show or affect wearing or using the item may slip by or not be considered worth mentioning.

Vintage nightgowns & peignoirs may be delicate so I do not wash them in the machine. I wash them in lukewarm water with Woolite or some other mild soap, then rinse & hang dripping wet in the shower.

Since these are vintage items, a bit of extra care needs to be taken with them so they remain beautiful & I definitely would never put a vintage nightgown or a peignoir in the dryer as it would ruin it.

The items are sold as we find them. We do not dry clean, launder, alter or repair vintage clothing and they should be cleaned or washed upon arrival. Please make your selection carefully & check the measurements as there is no return on clothing or other items.
