VINTAGE 1970s ALFRED SHAHEEN HAND PRINTED FLORAL & LEAF DRESS IN DEEP MINT & DYNASTY GREEN

Vintage 1970s Alfred Shaheen Hand Printed Floral and Leaf Dress with Shaheen's signature close to the bottom below some flowers and above the intertwined border.  I love these gorgeous hand printed fashions by the wonderful vintage Alfred Shaheen who was an amazing artist at his work and he is loved by so many admirers!

Alfred Shaheen (1922-2008) was one of the best known of the Hawaiian garment and textile designers of the 20th Century. Shaheen was active from 1948 into the 1980s, but he is best known for his work in the 1950s.

The label on the dress is identical to one on the Vintage Fashion Guild as from a dress from the 1970s.

I love the beautiful colors in Deep Mint and Dynasty Green in this hand printed vintage dress.  The centers of the flowers photographed as a yellow shade on the photos but they are actually white in the center.

There 9 self-covered buttons up the front with a hook and eye at the waist.  The dress is open from the waist to the hem and possibly in the past there were some matching shorts or pants to to wear with it.  The cleaner or an alteration person could easily sew the dress from the waist to the hem easily if you did not to wear some of shorts or pants under it. But I think a pair of short or pants with it would make a wonderful unique patio outfit for entertaining this summer on the patio or around the pool.

The cuffs of the dress have the same great border print with 2 self covered buttons.  There are loops for a belt but no belt is included.

Perfect summer dress for going out, vacation, entertaining, a cruise or a date this spring or summer.

Size: 16 but it is not todays size 146- that is old vintage sizing so go by the measurements below. 
This is the approximate measurements of the dress NOT of your body - you must be smaller than these measurements by a couple of inches at least.
Bust:  42 and leave some room for movement
Waist:   32 but leave a couple of inches for movement
Sleeve from neck:  29-1/3
Length: 58 - 59
Fabric: 100% Poly
Care: Hand wash only & drip dry
Condition: Very good - a triple pinhead spot on the back of the dress which may come with a wash

Care Instructions

We examine each item carefully and note any imperfections, but unless an item is said to be new, please don't expect it to be perfect & even some new items have small imperfections. I will always state in the description if there are any imperfections & I never do repairs but leave them to others who are better able to do them than me as that is not my expertise.

Please remember that unless specified all items have been used and will show varying signs of use or wear. We always list the obvious imperfections to the best of our abilities. However, some slight imperfections that will not show or affect wearing or using the item may slip by or not be considered worth mentioning.

Vintage nightgowns & peignoirs may be delicate so I do not wash them in the machine. I wash them in lukewarm water with Woolite or some other mild soap, then rinse & hang dripping wet in the shower.

Since these are vintage items, a bit of extra care needs to be taken with them so they remain beautiful & I definitely would never put a vintage nightgown or a peignoir in the dryer as it would ruin it.

The items are sold as we find them. We do not dry clean, launder, alter or repair vintage clothing and they should be cleaned or washed upon arrival. Please make your selection carefully & check the measurements. We hope you enjoy what you purchased but we know sometimes things do not fit quite as you would like or the color is wrong.  In that case, we do allow one exchange or a store credit on any item that you want. There are about 2,000 items in the store and more are being added all the time so you have a large selection to choose from.

You must email before returning an item so I can give you the information that you need to exchange the item.
