Elsa Schiaparelli was one of the greatest designers of the world of fashion.
The following is from the Vintage Fashion Guild site which gives the background of this wonderful designer. My thanks to them for this information.
"(1890 – 1973) An undisputed luminary in the world of fashion, Elsa Schiaparelli launched her career in 1928 in Paris with a single sweater – black with a white trompe l’oeil bow. Its success allowed her to open her first workroom, which produced attire pour le sport – practical, ingeniously designed clothing for tennis, golf, etc. She produced her first complete collection in 1929, and in 1930 added an atelier for couture day and evening wear, and thus began the decade in which her outsized talent flourished and assured her fame.
Schiap was strongly influenced by the modernist art of her day. Her early work (1928-1935) is suffused with a Cubist sensibility, as evidenced by precisely cut, almost architectural pieces. Surrealism informs her collections in the years 1936-1940 – her wit and creativity expressed its outrageous and spectacular aspects in all areas of her designs, from unexpected use of fabrics to whimsical buttons (clowns, acrobats, butterflies) and strongly surrealistic accessories (the lambchop hat, the big apple pocketbook, the “insect” necklace) – all fearlessly applied to brilliantly designed and elegant clothing. Her friendships with the artists themselves – Salvadore Dali, Christian Berard, et. al. led to collaborations with them in many design aspects from fabrics to jewelry.
Her atelier shuttered during the war, Schiaparelli re-opened her house in 1945. Her post-war collections were romantic, luxurious and artistically rendered. While they borrow elements from her earlier work and the art that inspired them, these designs lack some of the novelty and humour her pre-war clothes embraced.
In 1954 she closed her atelier, ending her role as a couturier. She continued to lend her name to a number of licensed products including wigs, hats, scarves, sweaters and jewelry. She died in 1973 at the age of 83. Her house was re-opened in 1977 with a team of designers, and lingerie and perfumes with her name continue to be sold."
This is a very feminine and lovely satin stocking, hosiery and lingerie envelope. Perfect for keeping one's stockings, scarves, hankies or gloves in perfect condition in your lingerie chest. The background of the satin bag is a creamy white with hot pink faux lace look designer. Elsa Schiaparelli was known for her love of the color hot pink and many of her items are in that color.
The bag measures 8-1/2" X 11" and has a hot pink satin ribbon tie for closure. The satin enveloped is lined with a hot pink heavy satin luxurious fabric. The Schiaparelli tag inside is identical to the one on The Vintage Fashion Guild site for items made in 1960.
It is in excellent condition and looks as though it has never been used.

Care Instructions
We examine each item carefully and note any imperfections, but unless an item is said to be new, please don't expect it to be perfect & even some new items have small imperfections. I will always state in the description if there are any imperfections & I never do repairs but leave them to others who are better able to do them than me as that is not my expertise.
Please remember that unless specified all items have been used and will show varying signs of use or wear. We always list the obvious imperfections to the best of our abilities. However, some slight imperfections that will not show or affect wearing or using the item may slip by or not be considered worth mentioning.
Vintage nightgowns & peignoirs may be delicate so I do not wash them in the machine. I wash them in lukewarm water with Woolite or some other mild soap, then rinse & hang dripping wet in the shower.
Since these are vintage items, a bit of extra care needs to be taken with them so they remain beautiful & I definitely would never put a vintage nightgown or a peignoir in the dryer as it would ruin it.
The items are sold as we find them. We do not dry clean, launder, alter or repair vintage clothing and they should be cleaned or washed upon arrival. Please make your selection carefully & check the measurements as there is no return on clothing or other items.
